China has accused NATO of airing slander and for portraying China as a threat to the West.

The west has offered its alliances to form a compact against the surging Chinese influence that can pose a threat to international security.

On Monday, at a summit in Brussels, leaders from the transatlantic security alliance, with Joe Biden in attendance for the first time, took a forceful stance towards Beijing. However, China’s EU mission has accused Washington of calling out China with inappropriate accusations.

The G7 nations meeting in Britain over the weekend criticized China over human rights abuses in Xinjiang, called for Hong Kong to retain a high degree of autonomy, and demanded a full investigation into the origins of coronavirus.

China has been accused of violating human rights in Xinjiang. It also underscored “the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait”, and said it encouraged “the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues”.
