Kim Jong’s sister has dismissed all the hopes of US-North Korea nuclear disarmament talks.

Analysts say that his sister has disappointed all who were looking to have normalized relations between the two. North Korea wants the US to lift all economic sanctions. However, the US wants it to proceed with nuclear disarmament.

North Korea’s special envoy has said that the talks will only proceed if done without any preconditions. Joe Biden’s stance has been described as a combination of Donald Trump’s direct engagement with Kim Jong-un and Barack Obama’s policy of “strategic patience”. But some experts do not believe Biden would ease sanctions until the North has taken demonstrable steps towards dismantling its nuclear arsenal.

The last time two countries had dialogue was in 2019 during a summit where the relations between the two deteriorated more as the US rejected North Korea’s demand of lifting the economic sanctions.
