UK has announced to donate 100 million COVID vaccines to needy countries.

The move was announced during the G7 Summit meeting. Johnson said the “success” of the U.K. vaccine program means the country can donate the extra doses to “those who need them.” 30 million doses will be given by the end of the year, five million of which will be before the end of September.

Johnson urged his fellow G-7 leaders widely expected to announce plans to donate 1 billion doses between them in the coming days to make similar commitments. The U.S. has already announced plans to donate 500 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The poor countries are crippling due to the pandemic and other issues. Moreover, the developing and underdeveloped countries are already struggling to get their hands on vaccination. However, the pandemic has created inequity among the countries. Hence, the decision to provide poor countries with the vaccine came in as a result.
